1887~1979 An English ceramic artist, also a painter and designer. Born in Hong Kong. He spent his childhood in Japan. After he went back to England, he came back to Japan. He studied RAKU ware under Miyagawa Kozan and Okata Kenzan the sixth. He was moved to Beijing once. He had friendship with Yanagi Muneyoshi and other Japanese Artists. He tried to mix up with Eastern and Western tradition.

After that joined “Kokuga Gyokusei kai” and also received awards in the Imperia Art Exhibition. Left many remarkable works based on the Noh song subjects.

Western-style painter. Born in Saitama Prefecture. Tsunetomo graduated from Tokyo Fine Arts School of Oil Paintings major, he quitted graduate school.
He founded “Pan no Kai” with Ishii Hakutei and Yamamoto Kanae. He stayed in Europe for one year from 1914. A member of “Nika kai” and The Japanese Art Academy. A founder of “Shunyou Kai”. A professor of the “Teikoku Bijutsu Gakko(It became Musashino Art University in 1948)”

A Japanese painter. Born in Hiroshima. His first name was Zenjiro, and he was one of the pupils of Tanaka Hakuin. After he graduated from Koto Shogakko (now about: high school), he worked hard at his painting lessons as an apprentice of Hattori Goro. Due to his father’s death while he was the apprentice, he had to go back to his home and succeed his father in the family business. Later, he went back to Kyoto, and studied Nanga under Egami Keizan. Also he adored Tomioka Tessai and Uragami Gyokudo. In his last years, he was strongly influenced by Umehara Ryuzaburo and Nakagawa Kazumasa. He tried to find his own way to use and mix with oil and watercolor on Nanga style painting. He was also good at poem, tankas, and tenkoku.

(1883~1959)A painter, a ceramicist, a seal engraving artist, and food researcher. Born in Kyoto. Real name:房次郎. He was recognized his talent in calligraphy when a boy, then he made his living by calligraphy, seal engraving art, and signboard. He was also well known by an epicure, so that he advised food and dishes at Hoshioka Charyo which was opened in Kojimachi, Tokyo. He produced many ceramic dishes besides.

He was especially good at Historical paintings. The Odake family organized "Yoka-kai"(八華会) then they periodically held exhibitions.

Winner of Asahi cultural awards for cultural merit, and the order of cultural merit. He died in 1967 at the of 78.

B. A poet and literary scholar. Birth place; Okayama Prefecture. Former name: Kitasato. Given name: Hachiro. He studied poetry under Ooguchi Taiji. Hachiro was the Chief Editor at the poetry journal "Suiou (mizugame). He promoted a naturalistic poetry theory, and was gifted in writing poetry in a graceful Japanese form. He served the Imperial Court as an expert in poetry presented during the Emperor's New Year poetry party. He died in 1957 at the age of 81.

Graduated from the Kyoto prefecture school of painting. He, ranking with Yokoyama Taikan and Kawai Gyokudo, is considered to be one of the big 3 in English painting circles. He brought up as a master of Kyoto arts circle many gifted pupils and contributed greatly to modernization of Japanese arts. Kyoto prefecture school of art professor, and "Bunten" exhibition judge. A recipient of the Order of Cultural Merit. Died in 1942 at age of 79.
